The Two Other Dictators

This is kind of like an extension to The Rise of Totalitarianism section. On this page, you will learn about the 2 other dictators during WWII. Enjoy!

Hideki Tojo and Japan

In 1941, Hediki Tojo became the dictator of Japan. He was also the leader of the Japanese military. He, like Mussolini and Hitler, was also one of the Axis Powers. But Japan didn’t become an Axis Power until 1940.

Tojo was best known for bombing Pearl Harbor on December 7th of 1941. After the bombing, the U.S declared war on Japan and Japan’s European Allies.

Benito Mussolini and Italy

Benito Mussolini became the dictator of Italy in 1924. He, like Hitler and Germany, also felt very cheated by the Versailles Settlement. It was because the settlement felt like it entitled more territory. Italy was also part of the Axis Powers when Mussolini signed the Axis Pact in 1936.
