World War II: Results

World War II is coming to an end. Yay! The Japanese were let go from the internment camps they were held in and the Jews were set free from the concentration camps by the Allies. But have you ever wondered how many people died during the war? Well over 50 million! There was a memorial made for all of the people that risked their lives fighting the war. Here are pictures of the memorial below.

<— This is the entrance to the war memorial.

<— Each of these big columns represents a state in the US (so there are 50 columns). The memorial is a circle so, one side is the states on the Pacific coast and the other the Atlantic.

Other than deaths of people in the US, Asia, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and other countries, the war left most of Asia and Europe in ruins! Americans, back at America, ran out to the streets cheering how the war has ended and the soldiers that fought in the war came home.

It is true that many people who fought in World War II are still alive. And it must be a great experiance fighting in this fascinating yet very depressing war.
